What we will not tell you
That a buyer is waiting. None is committed, and we are not going to imply otherwise to get an application in. We are building the buyer side and you are entitled to know that before you spend time on us rather than after.
We will also tell you if we think we are useless to you. If the export markets we would work are already held by an agent or distributor of yours, there may be nothing left for us to sell, and we would rather say so than sign you to something worth nothing.
How we are paid
We act openly as a commission agent. We never take title to your goods and buyer money never touches us: the buyer pays you, and you remain the seller and the exporter of record. You set every price and we add no margin to it.
Our commission is paid by you and only after an order has shipped and you have been paid in cleared funds. There is no retainer, no listing fee, and nothing to pay in a month where nothing ships.
What happens to an application
We verify the legal entity on ABN Lookup and ASIC, because any agreement names the entity rather than the trading name. We check that you actually manufacture, since an agent can only represent a company that makes something. We ask which markets are already covered. Then we tell you whether we can be useful, and if we cannot we say so in a sentence rather than leaving you waiting.
There is no automated approval and nothing to sign on submission. A form that issued an agreement on submission would be checking nothing.
If you produce food rather than industrial goods, this is the wrong company and we would only waste your time. Southern Cross Provisions is the food side and it has its own application form.
